Témoignage : In January 2017, I was able to fulfil one of my biggest dreams thanks to Erasmus+: live in Sweden for a few months. Since Örebro University was the only Swedish partner of the University of Luxembourg, it was my first choice for my Erasmus+ exchange. Luckily, I got accepted and could finish my Bachelor's degree within the framework of a term abroad.
Even if I had already heard many students enthusing about this special occasion, I would never have imagined that these four months would become the best of my life!
First of all, Örebro University had a different education system, which I personally liked a lot. Contrary to Luxembourg, I only had one or two courses at a time, followed by the exam at the end of the period; hence, I could concentrate on this/these subject(s).
Second, all the Erasmus participants lived in mixed flat shares close to the campus. Consequently, I could meet both Swedish and international people, coming from all over the world. We even had a club on campus, which was managed by students on a voluntary basis. As a result, it was the cheapest place to party in Örebro. After some time living in Örebro, ESN (Erasmus Student Network) had become my second family.
Finally, thanks to the financial support of the Erasmus+ programme, I was able to travel to many awesome places without the fear of not being able to pay my rent, such as Norway, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Riga, Tallinn - just to list a few. My personal highlight was definitely the trip to Lapland, where I had the opportunity to go sledding with both reindeers and dogs, visit an ice hotel and watch the Northern lights.
All in all, I had the best four months of my life and I would advise everyone to take the opportunity and participate in an Erasmus+ exchange. You will benefit from studying the first time abroad, living on your own for the first time, getting to know a different education system, meeting new people from all over the world and travelling to amazing places. Believe me, you will not regret it!
