Fonction : Main Project Manager & Data Analyst

Organisation : E-LECT

Témoignage : Participating in my European Solidarity Corps project, which involved developing a web application for the discourse analysis of European political groups was an incredibly rewarding experience. With my academic background in social and data sciences, this project gave me the opportunity to apply my theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges and combine my passion for politics, data analysis and social change into a meaningful contribution to civic engagement and the promotion of transparency in shaping public opinion.

As the project coordinator, I took a central role in managing the project schedule, coordinating with team members and ensuring the effective execution across various subgroups. This experience significantly strengthened my leadership skills and taught me how to manage complex tasks under time pressure. I learnt to foster collaboration among diverse individuals, leveraging their expertise in data analysis, web development and communication to create a cohesive team environment. The process of collective decision making was one of the most rewarding aspects of my role as I learnt how to listen, synthesise different perspectives and guide the intercultural team towards common objectives.

In my role as the main tester for the web application, I became deeply involved in ensuring that the activities and the final public tool met the required objectives. This role sharpened my attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. I quickly realised the importance of thorough planning, as even the smallest technical issues can disrupt the overall user experience.

Another highlight of my experience was working as a data analyst using Python to analyse political discourse across European political groups. This aspect of the project allowed me to apply the skills I had gained in data science and computational analysis to examine political speech and sentiment. I used Python and various libraries which provided valuable tools to analyse political narratives and trends. This task strengthened my technical abilities and my understanding of how data science can be usefully applied to social science research and our social reality.

Overall, my ESC project was an incredible journey of personal and professional growth. It allowed me to develop a unique combination of leadership, technical and analytical skills that will be invaluable in my future career. Most importantly, I learnt about the importance of collaboration and the impact that digital tools can have in fostering democratic participation and shaping informed change. It was truly inspiring to be part of a project that not only leveraged my skills but also contributed to creating a more informed, active European citizen.
